leza McLean - Reiki Master Teacher
I began teaching reiki and personal development in 2001.
Leza McLean, reiki Master Teacher

At it's essence, reiki is very simple and accessible to everyone and that really is what I want to get across, making it available to as many people as possible.

The reiki energy has the potential to increase self-esteem and independence within the individual. After experiencing and witnessing the possibilities for personal growth, both within my students and myself, I know that Reiki is exceptionally empowering.

My main focus is to integrate reiki into everyday life. To this aim, under the Improving Working Lives initiative, First Degree training sessions for NHS staff within The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust; have been running since 2002. Over 1000 people have trained through this scheme.

I have implemented ongoing Reiki projects for the Oldham District Carers, since 2002 around 200 carers have taken their 1st degree. Training for the Alzheimer’s support groups and the M.S Society as well as projects run in conjunction with Social Services Mental Health Team. Alongside these projects I also provide classes for individuals wanting to train into Reiki.
I have also been involved in a number of research projects integrating reiki into existing health care models i.e., Cardio Vascular Rehabilitation schemes, mental health wards and palative care.
My aim has been to develop a supportive network of people who can all use this energy in whatever their situation, at work, at home, support groups whilst still taking care of their own health and well being.
Since 2003 over 130 people have attained their Masters, no mean feat as they will testify, with 60 going on to take apprenticeships to teach.
I am delighted to say that the Oldham Reiki Network provides a service that focuses on personal excellence and community enhancement.
A little bit about me! I started working in Oldham in 1979 as a Community Social Worker, and have been involved in the setting up of a number of innovative projects, including the Abbey Hills Project headed by the Save The Children Fund, the Hathershaw Solvent Misuse Project and the Brook Advisory Agency. As Chair of Oldham Family Crisis Group, from 1989 to 2002, we expanded the project from a small run down women’s refuge building to encompass several, purpose built refuges, second stage accommodation and outreach team. In between I was given a wonderful husband and 3 lovely children. I also undertook practice of the Gitananda system of yoga, especially the Pranayama breathing techniques, as well as studying a range of other esoteric disciplines.
I draw on my life experiences and knowledge to offer, what I hope is, a diverse yet integrated approach to my teaching
